A creature concept I came up with last night.
The Beast of Souls is a monster deer that is a part of the Fog Dwellers. It finds lost creatures and passes a small judgement, if the beast sees a pure soul, the creature will be led out of the fog by the beast and granted a single wish, if the beast finds an impure soul the beast tears apart the creature and takes the soul to its master. Believed to be a pet to the Grim Reaper.
When not in the fog a disguise spell takes effect and repairs the wounds (except for the ton flesh of the throat, hence the cloth. The beast is a swift monster and with slam its tail into anything, often times the end is sharp like a knife during kills and feedings.
For the most part it's mouth is not shown, only when it feeds, at which point it's mouth opens to an ungody size with 4 rows of teeth that shred flesh like butter. It is unknown of where the Beast of Souls came from, but most follow the myth of an animal killed by the heartless creatures that over power it. When it finds a pure soul it becomes a more gentle creature and affectionate albeit cautious. It mostly survives on meat but does eat berries from time to time.
Also the gods hate this thing. So Death just unleashes in on the gods lawns to do as it pleases.
